WELCOME YEAR 10 DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS,
Lighting design is a popular area of industrial design that is constantly evolving often incorporating new lighting or materials technology to create new forms of lighting design. On this website you will find many of the resources and information required for your lighting design project, including the assessment task, Workplace Health and Safety tasks, links to useful sites and information and a gallery of past students' work that you can use for inspiration.
As with other design projects you will need to conduct your own extensive research relating to existing designs, materials and the factors of design (as represented below) as they relate to lighting design.
By completing this unit of work it is hoped that you will develop through your own experience of designing and producing a good understanding of the role of the industrial designer along with the importance of following safe work practices through the process of creating a prototype of your design.
You will be responsible, with guidance from your teacher, for assessing the possible risks within the workshop and detailing control methods to manage identified risks.
